MGlenium SKY 8514 is a cost-effective admixture made from modified polycarboxylic ether, primarily designed for use in ready-mix and site-batched concrete. This product allows for a significant reduction in mixing water while maintaining control over the setting time. Sika® ViscoCrete® SKY 8514 is chloride-free and low in alkali, and it is compatible with all types of cement.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

• Packaging: Supplied in IBC
• Shelf Life: 12 months from production date, if stored in unopened, undamaged, original packaging
• Storage Conditions: Store in a temperature range above +5°C. If frozen, thaw at +5°C or above and fully reconstitute with gentle mechanical agitation (avoid pressurized air). Store away from direct sunlight and protect from extreme temperatures.
• Appearance/Colour: Clear, slightly yellowish to reddish-brown liquid
• Specific Gravity: 1.042 ± 0.02 @ 25°C
• pH-Value: > 6
• Chloride Ion Content: < 0.2%

APPLICATION INFORMATION

• Recommended Dosage: The optimal dosage should be determined through trial mixes. Generally, a dosage range of 800 ml to 1800 ml per 100 kg of cementitious material is suggested. Dosage may vary based on concrete materials, job site conditions, and specific applications.
• Effects of Over Dosage: Excessive use of Sika® ViscoCrete® SKY 8514 can result in:
  • Reduced permeability
  • Prolonged initial and final set times
  • Increased air entrainment
  • Bleeding/segregation of the mix

A slight overdosing may not negatively impact the ultimate strength of the concrete and may even increase strength if properly compacted and cured. However, adjustments may need to be made for fluid pressure on formwork, and stripping times should be monitored.

Compatibility:
Sika® ViscoCrete® SKY 8514 is compatible with most products from the MasterPozzolith and MasterSet series, including MasterSet RT 55. It can also be used with MasterMatrix 2 as a viscosity modifier in self-compacting concrete. It is not compatible with Melamine or Naphthalene-based admixtures. However, it is compatible with lingo-sulphonates, carboxylic acid-based plasticizers and retarders, most air-entrainers, accelerators, extended set-control admixtures, corrosion inhibitors, and shrinkage reducers. It can also be used with slag and pozzolans like fly ash, metakaolin, and silica fume.
