Sika®-1 — Normal-Setting Liquid Integral Waterproofing Admixture
Sika®-1 is a normal-setting liquid integral waterproofing admixture for mortar and concrete. It blocks the capillaries and pores in the cementitious system to provide an effective barrier against the transmission of liquid water while allowing the substrate to breathe, and is suitable for tropical and hot climatic conditions.

Store in a dry, cool, shaded place in original unopened containers. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.
Shelf life
Approximately 12 months from date of production (correctly stored, unopened).
Application guide
Application guide (5 easy steps)
- PreparationEnsure sand, cement and aggregates are well graded and clean. Sika-1 is added to the gauging water; do not add it directly to dry cement.
- Dosage & GaugingFor general waterproofing, add approximately 1 part Sika-1 to 10 parts of gauging water (about 3% by weight of cement). For very wet sand increase to 1:8 or, in extreme cases, 1:6. Always run trial mixes to establish exact dosage and water demand.
- MixingMix the Sika-1 gauging water into the sand/cement or concrete mix until uniform. Maintain a consistent water/cement ratio and avoid overwatering.
- ApplicationApply renders in the required number of coats (typically 2 to 4 depending on water pressure and structure type), or place the treated concrete as normal, following good waterproofing render practice.
- CuringCure the applied mortar or concrete thoroughly, protecting it from rapid drying, to develop full waterproofing performance.

What is Sika®-1?
A normal-setting liquid integral waterproofing admixture for mortar and concrete that blocks capillaries and pores to resist the passage of liquid water while letting the substrate breathe.
What is the standard dosage?
Approximately 3% by weight of cement, roughly 1 part Sika-1 to 10 parts of gauging water. Trial mixes should always be carried out to confirm exact dosage.
Where is it used?
Renders, masonry mortars and screeds, and concrete for basements, swimming pools, tunnels, water tanks, manholes and culverts, indoors and outdoors.
Does it contain chlorides?
No. Sika-1 is chloride-free (nil chloride content to EN 934-2).
How is watertight concrete dosed?
Approximately 9 litres of Sika-1 per cubic metre of concrete, with trial mixes to establish the exact water requirement.
How should it be stored?
In a dry, cool, shaded place in original unopened containers, protected from direct sunlight and frost; shelf life is about 12 months.
