Usage of Sika®-101H:
- Adhesion Promoter: Primarily used as a primer to enhance the bonding of coatings, membranes, and other liquid-applied products to a wide range of substrates, particularly concrete, masonry, and cementitious surfaces.
- Surface Preparation: Helps to prepare surfaces for subsequent applications by improving the adhesion of waterproofing systems, epoxy coatings, and other protective layers.
- Porous Surface Treatment: Ideal for use on porous, absorbent surfaces, where it effectively reduces the porosity and promotes a more uniform and strong bond.
- Concrete Surface Conditioner: Used to condition and stabilize concrete surfaces before the application of coatings or sealants, ensuring better surface performance and long-term durability.
Applications of Sika®-101H:
- Concrete Surfaces: Used to treat concrete floors, walls, and structures before applying coatings, waterproofing systems, or adhesives.
- Masonry: Ideal for priming masonry surfaces prior to the application of finishing materials, such as paints or membranes.
- Tiling and Flooring: When preparing floors for tiling or the application of resin-based flooring systems, Sika®-101H improves adhesion.
- Waterproofing: Used as a bonding primer for liquid waterproofing membranes (such as Sikalastic®) on concrete, masonry, and similar surfaces.
- Epoxy and Polyurethane Coatings: Sika®-101H is often used as a primer before the application of epoxy and polyurethane coatings in industrial settings.
- Basements and Underground Structures: Applied on interior surfaces of basements or other below-ground structures prior to waterproofing treatments or coatings.
- Terraces and Balconies: Ideal for priming surfaces before the application of protective coatings or waterproofing membranes.
- Swimming Pools: Helps to improve the adhesion of coatings and finishing layers in swimming pool applications.
Coverage of Sika®-101H:
- Coverage Rate: Typically, Sika®-101H provides a coverage of approximately 8–10 m² per liter per coat, depending on the porosity and texture of the substrate.
- Application: The product is generally applied in 1 coat, but the coverage can vary based on the surface conditions.
- Surface Conditions: For highly porous surfaces, additional coats might be required for optimum adhesion enhancement.
- Drying Time: Typically, Sika®-101H dries within 1-2 hours at standard temperatures, though this may vary depending on environmental conditions.
Advantages of Sika®-101H:
- Enhanced Adhesion: Sika®-101H significantly improves the bond between substrates and subsequent coatings or membranes, ensuring long-lasting performance.
- Water-Based: Being water-based, it is low in odor, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly, making it safe for both indoor and outdoor applications.
- Easy to Apply: The primer is easy to apply using a brush, roller, or spray, making it suitable for both small-scale and large-scale projects.
- Fast Drying: It dries quickly, allowing for faster project turnaround and reducing the waiting time before the application of topcoats or other finishes.
- Improves Surface Quality: Helps to seal porous surfaces, creating a smoother, more uniform base for subsequent applications, and preventing uneven absorption.
- Versatility: It can be used on a wide range of substrates, including concrete, masonry, cement-based renders, and some stone surfaces, making it highly versatile.
- Cost-Effective: Sika®-101H offers a cost-effective solution for surface preparation, improving the performance and durability of coatings without requiring expensive or specialized equipment.
- Increases Durability: By improving adhesion, Sika®-101H helps increase the longevity of coatings and membranes, reducing maintenance and the need for frequent reapplications.
- Environmentally Friendly: The product is water-based and contains low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it an eco-friendly choice for a wide range of construction and industrial applications.
- Improved Coating Performance: Ensures that subsequent coatings and membranes adhere well, preventing peeling, cracking, and delamination over time.
