DESCRIPTION
Sika® Astar is a single-component, versatile acrylic copolymer-based dispersion used as a primer and sealer for concrete or mortar surfaces before applying underlayment mortars. It is suitable for use in hot and tropical climates.
USES
Sika® Astar should be applied only by skilled professionals. It is used for:
- Reducing absorbency and enhancing adhesion on smooth, stable surfaces.
- Priming for ceramic and tile adhesives.
- Protecting the substrate from moisture before applying leveling compounds.
- Preparing surfaces for the Sikafloor® Level cementitious underlayment range.
- Priming mortar applications on cement plates, gypsum, and concrete boards.
CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES
- Efficiently seals concrete surfaces in a single, cost-effective application.
- Prevents water loss into the substrate, reducing the risk of bubble formation in the leveling material.
- Odorless and enhances adhesion on smooth, sound substrates.
- Ideal for both internal and external applications, including wet areas.
- Low consumption with high coverage.
- Compatible with many substrates.
- Easy to apply and comes in a colored form.
SUSTAINABILITY
Sika® Astar is certified as a “Low Emitting Material” according to the Al Sa’fat – Dubai Green Building Evaluation System by the Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL), Certificate No. CL17020432.
