SikaGrind®-421 is a chloride-free liquid additive designed to facilitate cement grinding and enhance the quality of all cement types. Specifically formulated to improve early and final strength, SikaGrind®-421 helps achieve cements with increased performance.
Uses
SikaGrind®-421 is used during cement grinding to:
- Increase production efficiency
- Improve mill and separator performance
- Enhance overall cement quality
Characteristics / Advantages
SikaGrind®-421 is an effective dispersant, offering the following characteristics:
- Neutralization of electrical charges on cement particles
- Separation of cement particles
The benefits in cement production include:
- Faster achievement of desired cement fineness
- Reduction in particles > 32µ in ground cement
- Reduced re-agglomeration of cement particles
- Less buildup on grinding equipment (grinding balls and mills)
- Cost savings through reduced power consumption per ton
- Easier handling and minimized “plugging” problems due to improved flow properties
- Improved cement self-levelling in silos
For finished cement, SikaGrind®-421 offers:
- Reduced handling costs, especially for pneumatic conveying systems
- Lower risk of hydration in silos
- Easier silo discharge
- Optimum cement granulometry with fewer “over-milled” particles
- Increased strength
- Enables cost-effective cement design with clinker replacements
- Low water demand
- Uniform air entrainment within specified dosage
- Reduced brown or yellow discoloration
Tests
SikaGrind®-421 is produced under a quality management system certified to EN ISO 9001 standards.
Packaging

Storage Conditions / Shelf Life
SikaGrind®-421 has a shelf life of at least 12 months when stored in its original, undamaged, sealed containers at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C. Protect from frost, direct sunlight, and contamination. For bulk deliveries, ensure tanks and equipment are free from contaminants.
Technical Data
- Chemical Base: Blend of Amines and Glycols
- Density: 1.10 ± 0.03 kg/l (at +20°C)
- pH Value: 6.75 ± 1
Application Details
- Typical Dosage: 0.2 – 0.8 kg per ton of cement (0.02% – 0.08% of total weight = cement clinker + additions). The optimal dosage varies based on clinker properties, cement type, and plant conditions, and should be determined in plant trials for desired cement properties.
- Accurate Dispensing: For consistent results, SikaGrind®-421 must be accurately dispensed.
Application Instructions
- Dispensing: Add SikaGrind®-421 into the grinding mill (first or second compartment), onto the clinker feeding channel, or sprinkle onto the clinker on the conveyor belt. Use suitable dosage pumps with adjustable flow rates for precise dosing.
- Note: Periodically check the additive tube to ensure it is not blocked with cement clinker or dust.
