Sika Plast 520 BA

USES
Sikament®-520 BA is utilized as a superplasticizer for producing free-flowing concrete in applications such as:

• Slabs
• Foundations
• Walls
• Columns
• Piers
• Slender components with dense reinforcement
• Piles

It also acts as a water-reducing agent, resulting in high early-strength concrete for:

• Pre-cast concrete elements
• Pre-stressed concrete
• Bridges and cantilever structures

PRODUCT INFORMATION

• Composition: Sulphonated naphthalene
• Packaging: 1000 L flowbin. Bulk supply in tanker trucks available upon request.
• Appearance / Color: Brown liquid
• Shelf Life: 12 months from the production date when stored properly
• Storage Conditions: Store in its original, sealed packaging in dry conditions, at temperatures between +5°C and +45°C. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.
• Density: ~1.20 kg/l (+25°C)
• Total Chloride Ion Content: Nil (EN 934-2)

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
For best results when using Sikament®-520 BA in concrete, follow the standard rules of good concreting practice. Refer to relevant standards for proper production and placement methods. Fresh concrete must be cured correctly, especially in high temperatures, to prevent plastic and drying shrinkage. We recommend using Sika® Antisol® products as curing agents or applying wet hessian.

APPLICATION INFORMATION

• Recommended Dosage: 0.8 – 2.5% by weight of binder. Higher dosages may be required based on mix design, materials, environmental conditions, and concrete needs. Trial mixes are advised to determine the exact dosage.
• Compatibility: Sikament®-520 BA is compatible with all types of Portland cement (OPC and SRC), as well as concretes containing pozzolanic materials like GGBS, PFA, micro-silica. It also works with the following Sika products: SikaPump®, Sika® FerroGard®-901, SikaFume®, SikaFiber®, Sika Aer®, Sika® Stabilizer, Sika®-1 WT, and Sika® WT-10. We recommend trial mixes when combining Sikament®-520 BA with these or other admixtures. Consult the Sika Technical Department for guidance.
• Dispensing: Sikament®-520 BA should be added to the gauging water or mixed with it directly in the concrete mixer at the batching plant. It should not be added to the dry mix. For optimal water reduction, mix thoroughly for a minimum of 60 seconds. The remaining gauging water can be added after two-thirds of the mixing time to avoid excess water in the concrete.
