Sika® Sigunit® SA 540 — Liquid Set Accelerator for Sprayed Concrete

Sika® Sigunit® SA 540 is a liquid set accelerator for sprayed concrete (shotcrete), formulated to give fast setting and early strength development for ground support, tunnel and mine linings. Its dosage can be adjusted to achieve the required setting and hardening behaviour. Suitable for hot and tropical climates.

Storage

Store in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging in dry conditions, protected from direct sunlight and frost. Refer to the PDS for exact storage temperature and shelf life.

Application guide

Application guide (5 easy steps)

  1. Mix DesignDesign a suitable shotcrete mix and verify it in field trials before the project. A low water/binder ratio gives faster setting, higher early strength and lower accelerator dosage.
  2. Determine DosageEstablish the accelerator dosage by preliminary testing. Dosage is typically a percentage of binder weight; overdosing can reduce final strength. Confirm the exact rate from the current Sika Pakistan PDS.
  3. Dosing at the NozzleAdd the accelerator at the nozzle using an accurate, constant liquid dosing system. Draw material from the bottom of the drum and do not use a filter on the suction hose.
  4. SprayingSpray using correct nozzle angle and distance to achieve good compaction and low rebound, building up the lining in layers as required.
  5. CleaningThoroughly clean the dosing equipment and hoses after use as directed by the method statement.
