Usage: SikaCeram 502TG is primarily used for the installation of ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tiles in both residential and commercial settings. It is suitable for:
- Bonding large-format ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tiles on floors and walls.
- Suitable for use in high-moisture environments, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and swimming pools, as it provides strong adhesion even in wet conditions.
- Ideal for both interior and exterior applications, providing flexibility and stability for tiles subjected to thermal and moisture fluctuations.
- Perfect for high-traffic areas due to its long-lasting durability and bond strength.
- Can be applied to a wide range of substrates, including concrete, cement-based screeds, plaster, and gypsum boards.
Application:
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free from contaminants like dust, grease, oils, or loose materials. Repair any imperfections to provide a smooth and level surface for bonding.
- Mixing the Adhesive: Mix SikaCeram 502TG with clean water as per the recommended mixing ratio to create a smooth, lump-free paste. Use a mechanical mixer for best results to achieve a uniform consistency.
- Applying the Adhesive: Apply the mixed adhesive onto the prepared surface using a notched trowel. Spread evenly to create a suitable bed for the tiles, ensuring full coverage of the tile’s back surface.
- Tiling: Press the tiles firmly into the adhesive bed, ensuring good contact between the tile and the adhesive. For larger tiles, use a slight twisting motion to ensure full adhesion.
- Drying and Curing: Allow the adhesive to cure for 24-48 hours before grouting or exposing the tiled surface to traffic, depending on the ambient temperature and humidity.
- Clean-Up: Clean tools and equipment immediately with water. Once the adhesive has set and dried, it becomes harder to remove.
