Description

Areas of Application
Sikagard®-6470 is designed for use as a spray-applied anti-corrosion coating, ideal for protecting vulnerable, painted vehicle parts such as door sills, wheel arches, and front and rear aprons. It also functions as a sound-deadening product for applications like wheel arches. It adheres well to different paints, metal primers, metals, and PVC without requiring pre-treatment. This product is recommended for experienced professional users, and testing with actual substrates is necessary to ensure proper adhesion and compatibility.
Chemical Resistance
Sikagard®-6470 resists water, seawater, salt spray, oil, bases, and acids.
Method of Application
Surface Preparation
Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from rust, dust, and grease. Bare metal must be pre-treated to improve corrosion resistance (e.g., uncoated steel).
Application
Sikagard®-6470 can be applied using air-mix guns at a pressure of 3-6 bar. Shake the can for about 40 seconds before use and protect adjacent surfaces. Spray at room temperature from about 25 cm away in a grid motion to achieve an even coat. Apply additional layers if needed, allowing drying between coats. Varying spray techniques produce different textures. Avoid spraying brake, engine, or exhaust parts.
Removal
Uncured Sikagard®-6470 can be cleaned from tools with Sika® Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once dried, it can only be removed mechanically. Clean hands and exposed skin immediately with Sika® Cleaner-350H or a suitable industrial hand cleaner.
