Usage: Sikalastic®-450 (I) is suitable for:
- Seamless, impervious coating on roofs and concrete structures.
- Protective coating in infrastructure projects in civil engineering on non-trafficked areas.
- Waterproofing a variety of substrates, including concrete, brickwork, asphalt, and corrugated asbestos sheets.
- Inverted roof structures.
- Podium waterproofing as part of a built-up system.
- Application on retaining walls before backfilling.
Application:
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free from contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, and coatings that may hinder adhesion. Weak concrete should be removed, and surface defects like blowholes and voids must be fully exposed. All dust, loose, and friable materials should be completely removed, preferably by brushing and/or vacuuming.
- Application Method: Apply using a brush, roller, or airless spray. For inverted roof structures, a protective screed is recommended. The product can be applied in multiple thin coats, with each layer allowed to dry before applying the next. Ensure that the substrate and uncured membrane are at least 3°C above the dew point to reduce the risk of condensation.
- Drying Time: Tack-free time is approximately 12–20 hours at 20°C and 50% relative humidity. Full cure requires about 7 days at 30°C.
Coverage: Coverage depends on the surface and porosity of the material but generally ranges between 1.0 to 1.5 kg/m² per coat. For full waterproofing, multiple layers are recommended.
