Usage:
- Residential Construction: Ideal for producing high-quality concrete for foundations, floors, and pavements.
- Commercial & Industrial Construction: Used in structural concrete, slabs, columns, and beams for both new and repair work.
- Precast Concrete: Works effectively in precast concrete plants to enhance the quality and strength of precast elements.
- Ready-Mix Concrete: Enhances the flow and workability of ready-mix concrete for various large-scale projects.
- Hot & Cold Weather Conditions: Reduces early setting in hot climates and helps in freezing-thawing resistance in cold climates.
Application:
Sika® Plastocrete is typically added during the batching process of concrete mixing. It can be used with all types of cement and in various cementitious applications. The amount added depends on the specific mix design and required performance, but it’s generally dosed between 0.5% to 2% by weight of cementitious material. This product is compatible with other Sika additives, including retarders and accelerators, to further enhance concrete performance.
Coverage Advantage:
- Improved Workability: Enhances the consistency, flow, and ease of placing and finishing concrete.
- Reduced Water Requirement: Reduces water-to-cement ratio, resulting in stronger, more durable concrete.
- Increased Concrete Strength: Improves early and final compressive strength, providing better long-term durability.
- Extended Open Time: In hot weather, it provides more time to place and finish concrete before setting.
- Reduced Segregation & Bleeding: Helps prevent segregation and bleeding, ensuring consistent quality throughout the concrete mass.
- Resistance to Cracking: Enhances resistance to cracking, freezing, and thawing cycles, which is essential for exterior or exposed concrete applications.
Characteristics:
- Type: Liquid plasticizing admixture
- Appearance: Light brown to dark brown liquid
- Density: Approximately 1.10 g/cm³ (at 20°C)
- Compatibility: Compatible with most Portland cements, blended cements, and other Sika products.
- Dosage: Typically between 0.5% and 2% by weight of the cementitious material.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Protect from frost.
- Shelf Life: Approximately 12 months when stored in unopened containers.
- pH Value: 7 – 9
- Viscosity: Low viscosity, easy to incorporate into the concrete mix.
