SikaCor® 950F is a high-performance, two-component epoxy coating specifically designed for corrosion protection in aggressive industrial and marine environments. This advanced coating offers excellent adhesion to steel and concrete surfaces, providing long-lasting protection against corrosion, abrasion, and harsh environmental conditions. SikaCor® 950F is ideal for use in areas subjected to heavy wear and exposure to chemicals, water, and extreme temperatures. It is commonly used for protective coatings on tanks, pipelines, industrial equipment, and structures, ensuring durability and enhanced service life.
Usage:
SikaCor® 950F is used in a wide range of applications, including:
- Marine Applications: Protection of steel and concrete surfaces exposed to seawater, such as ships, offshore structures, and harbors.
- Industrial Equipment: Coating of machinery, pipelines, storage tanks, and other equipment subjected to harsh environments, including chemical exposure.
- Structural Steel: Protection of steel structures, such as bridges, cranes, and industrial buildings, from corrosion and environmental degradation.
- Oil and Gas Industry: Coating of equipment and infrastructure in oil refineries, offshore platforms, and pipelines to prevent rust and corrosion from exposure to chemicals and saltwater.
- Water Treatment Facilities: Coating for concrete and metal surfaces in water treatment plants to protect against corrosion and abrasion in harsh conditions.
- Power Plants: Protective coating for various power plant components exposed to extreme temperatures, moisture, and chemicals.
Application:
- Surface Preparation:
- All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants such as grease, oil, rust, dust, and old coatings. For steel surfaces, abrasive blasting (sandblasting) is recommended to achieve a clean, profile surface that promotes adhesion. Concrete surfaces should be mechanically prepared by grinding or shot blasting to remove any laitance and ensure good adhesion.
- Mixing:
- SikaCor® 950F comes as a two-component system. Mix the base (Component A) and hardener (Component B) in the recommended ratio (usually 4:1 by volume) using a power mixer. Mix thoroughly for several minutes to ensure a homogenous mixture. Avoid mixing by hand as it may result in an incomplete blend.
- Application:
- Apply SikaCor® 950F using suitable equipment such as a brush, roller, or spray gun, depending on the area to be coated. For optimal protection, apply the coating in two layers, ensuring the first coat is fully cured before applying the second coat.
- The recommended film thickness will depend on the specific application and environmental conditions. Typically, the total dry film thickness is between 100-200 microns.
- Curing Time:
- SikaCor® 950F requires curing time after application. At ambient temperatures of 20°C (68°F), the touch dry time is typically 6-8 hours, with full curing achieved after 7 days. However, curing time may vary based on environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. For best results, allow the coating to cure in a controlled environment.
- Post-Application:
- After application and curing, SikaCor® 950F provides a durable, smooth, and corrosion-resistant finish. Clean any application tools immediately after use with an appropriate solvent, such as Sika® Thinner S.
Benefits:
- Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: Provides superior protection against corrosion from water, chemicals, and extreme temperatures.
- High Durability: The tough, epoxy-based formulation offers long-lasting protection against abrasion, impacts, and mechanical wear.
- Excellent Adhesion: Bonds strongly to a variety of substrates, including steel, concrete, and masonry, ensuring a solid and enduring protective layer.
- Versatile Application: Suitable for use in a wide range of industries, including marine, industrial, oil and gas, and power generation.
- Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance to many chemicals, including acids, alkalis, and solvents, making it ideal for industrial environments.
Notes:
- Safety Precautions: Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, goggles, and respiratory protection, as the product contains chemicals that may be hazardous during application. Work in a well-ventilated area.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
- Shelf Life: When stored in unopened containers, SikaCor® 950F has a shelf life of up to 24 months. Check the expiration date on the packaging.
- Application Temperature: The ideal application temperature is between 5°C and 30°C (41°F and 86°F).
SikaCor® 950F offers an advanced solution for protecting industrial, marine, and infrastructure assets from corrosion, ensuring long-term durability and maintaining the structural integrity of critical components. Its high-performance properties make it an essential coating for harsh environments and demanding applications.
