Sikaflex®-221 is a multipurpose, one-component, moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive and sealant with a wide adhesion spectrum. It bonds and seals elastically to a broad range of substrates including metals, timber, ceramics and many plastics, produces durable, high-strength elastic joints, is non-corrosive and can be over-painted. Widely used for sealing and elastic bonding in construction, vehicle bodywork and general industry.

Storage

Store in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging in dry conditions, typically between +5 C and +25 C. The expiry date is printed on the packaging. Refer to the PDS for exact storage and shelf life.

Application guide

Application guide (5 easy steps)

Surface PreparationSurfaces must be clean, dry and free from grease, dust and loose particles. Use the appropriate Sika cleaner/activator or primer for the substrate as directed.
PreparationCut the nozzle to suit the joint/bead size and fit to a standard cartridge gun. Ensure the temperature is within the permitted application range.
ApplicationApply the adhesive/sealant firmly into the joint or onto the bonding surface, ensuring full contact and avoiding air entrapment.
ToolingTool and finish the bead within the open time, before skin formation, using a suitable tooling agent if required.
CuringAllow to cure by atmospheric moisture. Cure rate depends on temperature and humidity; protect the joint from loading until adequately cured.
