Description

USES
Sika® ViscoCrete®-20 HE PK is particularly effective for concrete mixes requiring high early strength, substantial water reduction, and excellent flowability. It is commonly used for:

• Pre-cast concrete
• Fast-track concrete
• In-situ concrete needing quick stripping times
• Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC)

CHARACTERISTICS / ADVANTAGES
Sika® ViscoCrete®-20 HE PK functions as a powerful superplasticizer through various mechanisms, including surface adsorption and steric effects that separate binder particles. This results in:

• Enhanced early strength development, leading to faster stripping times for pre-cast and in-situ concrete
• Significant water reduction of over 20%, which leads to higher density, strength, and reduced water permeability
• Excellent plasticizing effect, improving flowability and ease of placement and compaction
• Reduced energy costs for steam curing of pre-cast elements
• Ideal for producing Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC)

Sika® ViscoCrete®-20 HE PK does not contain chlorides or other ingredients that may cause corrosion of steel reinforcement, making it suitable for reinforced and pre-stressed concrete.

APPROVALS / STANDARDS
Sika® ViscoCrete®-20 HE PK meets the requirements of ASTM C494, Type F.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

• Chemical Base: Aqueous solution of modified polycarboxylates
• Packaging: 1000 L IBC, 200 L drum, 20 L plastic can, 5 L jerry can, Bulk supply available on request
• Shelf Life: 12 months minimum from production date if stored correctly in unopened packaging
• Storage Conditions: Store in a dry area between 5°C and 35°C, away from direct sunlight
• Appearance / Colour: Light brownish liquid, clear to slightly cloudy
• Specific Gravity: ~1.11 at 25°C
• Solid Content by Weight: > 48%
• pH Value: ~4.3 (+1) at 25°C
• Total Chloride Ion Content: Nil

APPLICATION INFORMATION

• Recommended Dosage:
  • For medium workability: 0.2-0.8% by weight of cement
  • For high workability, very low water/cement ratio, or Self-Compacting Concrete: 1.0–2.0% by weight of cement
    It is recommended to carry out trial mixes to determine the correct dosage.
• Dispensing: Sika® ViscoCrete®-20 HE PK should be added to the gauging water or mixed simultaneously with it in the concrete mixer. For optimal use of its water-reducing properties, a thorough mixing time of at least 60 seconds is recommended.
