Uses

Sika® ViscoCrete®-3110 is primarily used for the following applications:

• Production of site-mixed and ready-mix concrete
• Concrete production in hot weather, ensuring extended transportation or placement times
• Concrete requiring prolonged workability retention
• Concrete with low water-to-cement ratios
• Placing concrete in areas with dense steel reinforcement
• Self-compacting concrete
• Slim elements that require high surface finish standards
• High-performance / high-strength concrete

Characteristics / Advantages

Sika® ViscoCrete®-3110 works by absorbing onto cement particles, creating steric hindrance and electrostatic repulsion between the particles, which leads to enhanced dispersion, flow, and retention. The key properties include:

• Self-compacting concrete (S.C.C.)
• High impermeability and strength due to significant water reduction
• Improved shrinkage and creep behavior
• Excellent flowability, reducing the effort required for placement and compaction
• Slower carbonation and chloride ingress, especially when silica fume or pozzolanic materials are used
• Very good cost-performance ratio
• Chloride-free, meaning it can be safely used in reinforced and pre-stressed concrete applications

Sika® ViscoCrete®-3110 complies with the requirements of ASTM C494; Type G and EN 934-2.

Product Information

• Composition: Aqueous solution of modified polycarboxylates, co-polymers
• Packaging: 200 L drums and 1000 L flow bins. Bulk supply in tanker trucks available on request
• Appearance / Colour: Brown liquid
• Shelf Life: 12 months from production date if stored properly
• Storage Conditions: Store in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5°C and +45°C. Protect from direct sunlight and frost
• Total Chloride Ion Content: Nil (EN 934-2)

Application Information

• Recommended Dosage:
  • 0.4% – 2.0% by weight of binder
  • Higher dosages may be used depending on the mix design, raw materials, climatic conditions, and concrete requirements. Trial mixes should be conducted to determine the precise dosage.
• Compatibility:
  Sika® ViscoCrete®-3110 can be combined with all types of Portland cement and other Sika products, including:
  • SikaPump®
  • Sika® FerroGard®-901
  • SikaFume®
  • SikaFiber®
  • Sika Aer®
  • Sika® Stabilizer
  • Sika®-1 WT
    It is recommended to conduct trial mixes when combining Sika® ViscoCrete®-3110 with other products to ensure performance.
• Dispensing:
  Sika® ViscoCrete®-3110 should be added to the gauging water or poured simultaneously with it into the concrete mixer at the batching plant. It should not be added directly to the dry mix. For optimal utilization of its water-reducing properties, the mix should be thoroughly blended for at least 60 seconds. The remaining gauging water can be added after two-thirds of the wet mixing time to avoid excess water in the mix.
