SikaFume® is a concrete additive in powder form based on silica fume technology, containing extremely fine, latently reactive silicon dioxide. It greatly improves the internal cohesion, water retention and pumpability of fresh concrete, and in hardened concrete it reacts with free lime to form a significantly denser cement matrix. This gives higher ultimate strength, greatly increased durability, abrasion resistance, water-tightness and gas-tightness, and reduced chloride penetration. Application Guide (5 Easy Steps)

Mix Design

Adopt a suitable mix design and test local material sources. Carry out laboratory trials before site concreting, especially for new mixes.

Dosage

Use 5-10% by weight of cement; confirm the exact dosage for the required properties by preliminary testing. For optimum results use together with a superplasticiser.

Batching

Add SikaFume with the cement and aggregates at the batching plant before the gauging water.

Mixing

Mix thoroughly with an optimum wet mixing time of about 60 seconds to fully disperse the additive.

Curing

Cure the fresh concrete properly and as early as possible to develop full durability.
