The concrete face you get is decided before the pour, on the formwork. Release agents give a clean strike, sound surfaces, and longer life from your shutter investment.
A thin, uniform film of release agent prevents cement paste bonding to the form face. Over-application causes staining and surface dusting, so a light wiped or sprayed coat is the rule. Grades differ for steel, timber and plastic-faced forms, and for fair-faced concrete where surface quality is contractual.
Clean release without prying and patching
Better off-form surface quality
Longer formwork service life
Grades matched to steel, timber and plastic faces
Almost always over-application or the wrong grade. Apply the thinnest continuous film the TDS allows and stains disappear.
Universal grades exist, but fair-faced work and absorbent timber do better with matched products. Tell us your form types and finish requirement.
Residues can reduce bond. For surfaces receiving finishes, choose a grade the TDS marks as compatible, or plan surface preparation.
