DESCRIPTION
Sika® Aktivator-100 is a colorless, solvent-based adhesion promoter that reacts with moisture to form active groups on surfaces, creating a bond between the substrate and primers or sealants/adhesives. Specifically designed for preparing bond faces before applying Sika’s elastic adhesives and sealants.

AREAS OF APPLICATION
Sika® Aktivator-100 is ideal for improving adhesion on substrates such as float glass, ceramic screen prints, cut faces of old polyurethane adhesives, and paints. It is also effective in enhancing the adhesion of other Sika sealants and adhesives on non-porous surfaces. Always perform tests on original substrates before use, particularly on materials that may be prone to stress cracking. This product is intended for professional use only.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Adhesion can be improved by scuffing and cleaning the surfaces before applying the activator. To apply, wipe the bond faces with a clean, lint-free paper towel moistened with Sika® Aktivator-100, then immediately wipe off excess with a dry towel. Avoid oversaturating the surface, as excess activator can cause adhesion failure. If bonding does not occur within the flash-off time, repeat the activation process. Ideal application temperature is between 15°C and 25°C.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Sika® Aktivator-100 may affect the finish of freshly applied paints, so preliminary testing is recommended. It should not be applied to porous surfaces as it may prevent the adhesive from curing. Always reseal the container immediately after use to prevent exposure to moisture. If the product turns opaque, it should be discarded. Do not mix with other substances, and avoid using it for tooling or cleaning. UV protection is necessary when applying to transparent or translucent surfaces, except for Sikasil® products.
