SikaSwell® S-2 is a one-part polyurethane hydrophilic sealant that swells on contact with water to seal construction joints and penetrations in concrete structures. It is also used as a swellable adhesive to bond SikaSwell profiles to the substrate. On water contact the swelling action creates positive pressure within the joint to block water passage.

Storage

Store in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions, protected from frost and direct sunlight. Refer to the PDS for exact storage temperature and shelf life.

Application Guide (5 Easy Steps)

01
Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and free from dust, oil, grease and loose material. Remove laitance and even out irregularities so the sealant contacts a firm surface.

02
Application

Apply SikaSwell S-2 from the cartridge as a continuous triangular bead of the specified cross-section along the joint centreline or profile location, avoiding gaps.

Profiles

When bonding SikaSwell profiles, apply the bead and press the profile firmly into place, ensuring full contact.

04
Curing

Allow the sealant to skin/cure before it is exposed to water, so it develops strength before swelling begins.

05
Concreting

Position the swelling bead so it will be fully encased in the subsequent concrete pour, with adequate cover on all sides.
