SikaTop®-501 Seal is a cement-based capillary crystalline waterproofing material applied against surface water in old and new structures from both negative and positive sides. Supplied as a powder and mixed to a brushable slurry, it fills capillary gaps by forming permanent, insoluble crystals that block the passage of water, protecting the concrete while remaining water-vapour permeable and freeze-thaw resistant.

Storage

Store in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions, off the ground and protected from rainfall and direct sunlight. Refer to the PDS for exact storage temperature and shelf life.

Application Guide (5 Easy Steps)

01
Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be sound and clean. Repair weak or honeycombed concrete and remove laitance. Dampen the surface thoroughly before application; the substrate must be saturated but without standing water.

Mixing

Add the powder to clean water and mix with a 400-600 rpm mixer for 3-5 minutes to a homogeneous slurry. Wait 3-5 minutes, then remix for about 30 seconds before use.

First Coat

Apply the first coat by brush onto the dampened substrate, working the slurry well into the surface.

04
Second Coat

Apply the second coat once the first has sufficiently cured (typically 3-5 hours depending on temperature); the interval between coats must be less than 6 hours.

Curing

Protect from rapid water loss. Do not use curing compounds. Keep the coating wet for 5-7 days. Clean tools with water immediately after use.
