Sika® SBR 200 — Water-Resistant SBR Bonding Agent & Mortar Admixture

SikaLatex®-200 SBR PK (Sika SBR 200) is an acrylic/synthetic-rubber dispersion used as an admixture for cementitious bonding bridges and high-quality site-mix mortars. Simply added to the mixing water, it improves adhesion, reduces shrinkage, and increases water, abrasion and chemical resistance. It is non-corrosive, ready to use, does not re-emulsify even under highly alkaline conditions, and is suitable for hot and tropical climates.

Storage

Store in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging in dry conditions between +5 C and +35 C. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.

Shelf life

Minimum 12 months from production date (correctly stored, unopened).

Application guide

Application guide (5 easy steps)

  1. Substrate PreparationConcrete surfaces must be clean, sound, rough and free from oil, grease, cement laitance and loose particles, in a saturated surface-dry condition.
  2. Bonding SlurryMix SikaLatex-200 SBR PK with water at 1:1, then combine with fresh cement and fine sand to a homogeneous brushable slurry. Brush the slurry well onto the prepared surface.
  3. Mortar MixingIn a suitable mixer, mix cement and aggregate to a uniform consistency, then add the required quantity of diluted SikaLatex-200 SBR PK and mix slowly for at least 2 minutes.
  4. ApplicationApply the subsequent mortar while the bonding coat is still wet; apply by steel trowel and finish with a wooden float. Never apply pure SikaLatex-200 SBR PK or a latex-water mix directly as a bonding bridge; always add cement and sand.
  5. Curing & CleaningCure fresh mortar properly, especially at high temperatures, using Sika Antisol WB or polyethylene sheet and wet hessian. Clean tools with water immediately after use.

What is Sika SBR 200 / SikaLatex®-200 SBR PK?

An acrylic/synthetic-rubber dispersion added to mixing water as a bonding agent and admixture for cementitious bonding bridges and site-mix mortars, improving adhesion and water, abrasion and chemical resistance.

What is the dosage?

For a bonding slurry, latex to water is 1:1 (with cement and sand). Generally added to clean mixing water at 1:1 to 1:2; trial mixes establish the exact rate.

Can it be used neat?

No. Never apply the pure product or a latex-water mix directly as a bonding bridge; always add cement and sand.

What is the specific gravity and pH?

Specific gravity is 1.00 +/- 0.02 and pH is >= 5.

What is the shelf life?

Minimum 12 months from production when stored correctly in unopened packaging.
