SikaCeram®-205 PK is a high-performance, flexible cementitious adhesive mortar, ready to use with the addition of water, for bonding ceramic tiles using thin-bed techniques. It is classified C2, offers high flexibility and extended open time, and is suitable for interior wall and floor applications as well as outdoor floors, including large-format porcelain and natural stone (where not moisture sensitive).

Application Guide (5 Easy Steps)

Substrate Preparation

The substrate must be sound, clean, and free of dust, oil, grease and loose material. Under normal conditions no primer is required; for highly absorbent gypsum plaster or anhydrite screeds, prime with Sika Primer-10.

Mixing

Gradually add the SikaCeram-205 PK powder to clean water and mix with a low-speed drill and paddle (max 500 rpm) to a smooth, lump-free paste. Leave to stand (mature) for a minimum of 5 minutes, then remix for about 15 seconds before use. A free-fall concrete mixer is not suitable.

Application

Apply the adhesive to the substrate with a suitable notched trowel. Ensure full wetting of the tile backs; back coverage must be 100% for exterior and heavy tiles. Tile only onto freshly applied, still-tacky adhesive.

Tiling

Place tiles firmly into the fresh adhesive and apply adequate pressure for full, uniform contact. If a skin forms on the adhesive, remove it, discard and apply fresh material. Adjust tiles within the open time.

Cleaning

Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.

What is SikaCeram®-205 PK?

Does it need a primer?

Under normal conditions no primer is required. For highly absorbent gypsum plaster or anhydrite screeds, prime with Sika Primer-10.

Yes, it is suitable for all types of ceramic tiles including large-format porcelain, with 100% back coverage recommended for heavy and exterior tiles.

What is the shelf life and packaging?

Supplied in 25 kg bags with a shelf life of 6 months from production when correctly stored.
