The work, step by step

General guidance based on the manufacturer data sheets. Site conditions differ: confirm the system with MCT before you start. Where we do not name a product, ask us and we will confirm the right one.

  1. Step 1: Survey and repair the deck first

Repair spalling and corroded reinforcement before coating (see our concrete repair guides). The slab must be at least 25 N/mm² with 1.5 N/mm² pull-off (Sikafloor-359 SG p.4) and ≤4 % moisture with no rising moisture (p.3).

  2. Step 2: Prime

Sikafloor-161, lightly broadcast, is the primer in the UV-stable deck systems (Sikafloor-359 SG p.2).

Questions customers ask

Can the top-deck coating handle the sun?

Use a UV-resistant seal coat: Sikafloor-359 SG is UV resistant and non-yellowing (p.1). Sikafloor-3240 on its own can change colour under UV and weathering (p.3).

How long will the parking be closed?

Sikafloor-3240 takes light traffic after about 2 days at +20 °C (p.3); Sikafloor-18 Pronto reaches full cure in about 1 hour at +20 °C (p.3). Total closure depends on repairs. Ask us: it depends on site conditions.

Will it stop leaks to the floor below?

Sikafloor-359 SG is watertight and is used over crack-bridging broadcast systems (p.1), and the joints must be sealed as well (Sikaflex PRO-3 p.1). Active cracks and joints are assessed first.

Can the same system go on the ramps?

Sikafloor-3240 is not for slopes over 1 % (p.3). Ask us: it depends on site conditions.

Steps and product facts are taken from the manufacturer data sheets (page cited). Products are named only where the data sheet confirms the use; quantities follow a site visit or photos. General guidance: check the data sheet or ask us before you start.
