The work, step by step

General guidance based on the manufacturer data sheets. Site conditions differ: confirm the system with MCT before you start. Where we do not name a product, ask us and we will confirm the right one.

  1. Step 1: Test and prepare the base

Resin floors need at least 25 N/mm² concrete, 1.5 N/mm² pull-off and ≤4 % moisture with no rising moisture (Sikafloor-330 p.3, p.4). Prepare mechanically to remove laitance (p.4). The Décor system specifies a Sikafloor-161 HC primer (Sikafloor-263 SL Décor p.2); ask us which primer variant applies.

  2. Step 2: Approve a reference area

Colour and pattern vary widely, so apply a reference area and have the client accept it before the main work (Sikafloor-263 SL Décor p.3).

  3. Step 3: Decorative epoxy

Sikafloor-263 SL Décor is a 3 mm self-smoothing epoxy with coloured décor granules for shops, offices, canteens and labs (p.1). Apply at +18 °C to +30 °C (p.3). Sikafloor-304 W clear matt sealer is recommended for better UV stability and scratch resistance (Sikafloor-263 SL Décor p.2).

  4. Step 4: Soft, quiet polyurethane

Sikafloor-330 is an elastic decorative PU for hospitals, schools, showrooms, lobbies and homes, interior only (p.1). Finish with the Sikafloor-305 W matt seal coat (p.1).

Questions customers ask

Can I choose any colour?

Décor granules give an endless range of combinations (Sikafloor-263 SL Décor p.1). Approve a reference area first (p.3).

Will the floor yellow?

Use the Sikafloor-304 W clear matt sealer over Sikafloor-263 SL Décor for better UV stability and scratch resistance (Sikafloor-263 SL Décor p.2). Sikafloor-305 W has good UV and yellowing resistance (p.1).

Can my existing slab become polished concrete?

Ask us: it depends on site conditions. Sikafloor-958 PG (CZ) needs a densified surface ground to at least 400 grit (p.2, p.3).

Is it suitable for a home?

Sikafloor-330 lists residential use, interior only (p.1). These systems are for experienced professionals (p.1), so we arrange an applicator for homeowners.
